Celebrating 100 years of the Palairet Hall

Norton St Philip were delighted to celebrate 100 years of the Palairet Hall on 16th September 2023, with well over 100 people attending two events held at the hall.

The hall itself was once the property of Mr Henry Hamilton Palairet (1845-1923).  On his death Mr Palairet gifted the hall to the village under the auspices of the church, to be used for the benefit of the village.

The celebrations, organised by the Management Committee included stalls & displays from current user groups; the history of the hall and its many users; free tea and coffee in the afternoon, culminating with Edward Palairet, a descendent of Henry Palairet, travelling down from Coventry to ceremoniously cut the anniversary cake!

In the evening the celebrations continued with the Palairet Players providing a meal and a screening of Cinema Paradiso.

All who attended thoroughly enjoyed the day and the efforts that all the volunteers had put in to making the day such a success.
